Located on the grounds around 1886 Lake House Bistro are various vegetable gardens and greenhouses growing heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, peaches & cream corn, peas, yellow/green/purple beans, red/gold/candy cane beets, heirloom carrots, red & yellow peppers, hot peppers such as Carolina reapers & Ghost for Chef Greg’s secret hot sauces and much more depending on season. Callander Bay Market produces all of the chutneys, mustards, ketchups, relishes, compotes, etc for our future retail location (coming spring 2024).

Wayne & Patti Chalmers are pioneers in growing organic vegetables in their year round greenhouses on the top of the hill just outside Trout Creek. They are a family run business, who takes special pride in growing our their flowers and fresh produce! They have everything you are looking for, from flowers and produce to soils and seeds! Since Wayne’s passing Patti has sold the farm to James and his wife who are continuing the legacy.

Is a sustainable indoor growing facility located on Nipissing First Nation. The greenhouse is using groundbreaking hydroponic technology to grow the highest quality of lettuces, leafy greens, and herbs in North Bay and the surrounding areas while continuously remaining environmentally friendly.

 

FROMAGERIE KAPUSKOISE, KAPUSKASING, ONTARIO

Since 2011, Fromagerie Kapuskoise has been a dream in the making for François Nadeau. While travelling in Asia—where cheeses were scarce—François decided to pursue cheese making so he would never have to go without it. Motivated by his newfound passion, he completed a basic cheese making course in Saint-Hyacinthe (Québec) in 2013, followed by in-depth training in France that following year.

 

BOARD’S HONEY FARM, RESTOULE, ONTARIO

Since 1974 we have been keeping bees in the North. We believe that the honeybee is an amazing creature. Our 300 colonies are situated in the scenic pristine and unpolluted countryside of Northern Ontario’s Almaguin/Nipissing Region. The bees pollinate old farming fields, cattle fields and non-industrial farming areas that are known for not using pesticides. Proprietor Jamie Board continues her families legacy.

FIELD GOOD FARMS, CACHE BAY, ontario

Isabelle and Ryan Spence grow quality food for the North Bay, West Nipissing and Sudbury region since 2011. The farm operates using organic methods on 4.5 acres west of Cache Bay. growing spinach, carrots, beets and numerous other vegetables. Find them regularly at the North Bay Farmers Market.

DALEW FARMS, LAVIGNE, ONTARIO

The farm is owned and operated by Dave and Chantal Lewington and their children Caleb, Jacob, Olivia and Emma. They are very passionate about small scale ecological agriculture and work extremely hard to grow the healthiest and most nutritious food they can each season and in an environmentally sustainable way while also supporting the local economy by patronizing local suppliers.

LE FROMAGERIE AU VILLAGE, ;LORRAINVILLE, QUEBEC

In 1990, Christian Barrette and Hélène Lessard acquired a dairy farm that had been in the Barrette family for several generations. After reviewing a number of possibilities, they decided to turn the farm into an artisan cheese factory. The company opened its doors on September 26, 1996. The cheese-making couple specialize in making various types of cheddar, putting love and pride into all their products.

ELK RANCH, KANATA, ONTARIO

Thom van Eeghen has farmed with elk since he was 15, beginning in New Zealand and then for the past 20 years at ElkRanch, west of Ottawa. Thom and his wife Fay Armitage farm together here and Fay traces her family’s farming in this area to more than 150 years ago.

 

DEHAAN FAMILY FARMS, ASTORVILLE, ONTARIO

William and Tara began farming in 2013,they have laying hens and broiler chickens, they have always had a vegetable garden for their own family. It has slowly grown over the past 3 years into a much larger scale from servicing our farm gate customers to taking our chicken to market. They produce a locally grown free run, free range chicken that is butchered locally and sold to our local customer.

UGLY BARN FARM, MARKSTAY, ONTARIO

Brittany Rantala-Sykes and Ivan Vincent are a small family farm based in northern Ontario and one of the first, year-round mushroom facilities in the north! At the Ugly Barn Farm, they specialize in gourmet mushrooms! They cultivate them in our mushroom growing facility, heated by renewable materials and produce mushrooms without the use of pesticides and source as much material locally as possible! By doing so they support other local farmers and reduce their environmental footprint! They are also passionate in wildcrafted foods like blueberries, fiddleheads, spruce buds, and of course mushrooms!

MILFORD BAY TROUT FARM, BRACEBRIDGE, ONTARIO

Milford Bay Trout Farm begins with the Uhde family and 200 acres of land outside Bracebridge. Rolf and Edith Uhde moved from Niagara Falls with their four kids in 1973 to seek a healthier, more self-sufficient lifestyle. They wanted to provide a place where people could fish, and there was an excellent wellspring on the site that was just perfect. In 1974, Milford Bay opened to the public!

Mitch Deschatelets,family owned Leisure Farms has been operating as a business since 1981. Our farm is situated in the vibrant small community of Sturgeon Falls (West Nipissing) and stretches alongside the serene Sturgeon river.

In 1979 Dave and Audrey  bought 30 acres of bush on the  Ski Hill Rd. west of Powassan. In the spring of 1980 they had 50 buckets and a homemade 2′ x 6′ open evaporator in our driveway.
